Moccamaster instructions

How do you make really good coffee with the Moccamaster?

The Moccamaster filter coffee machine has been the market leader in its field since 1968. The reason for this is simple: Moccamaster machines consistently brew you fantastic coffee.

The secret to the perfect cup of filter coffee lies, among other things, in the brewing temperature. Moccamaster's copper heating element ensures that the temperature is maintained at a constant 92-96 degrees. It regulates the temperature automatically so that you can sit back and relax. Your cup of filter coffee is ready in just 6 minutes. With the practical Select selector switch you can easily choose between a half and full jug.

There are three different versions of the Moccamaster filter coffee machine: the classic version for 4-10 cups with a glass jug, a version with a practical thermos jug and the single cup version. You can find out here how you can brew the best possible filter coffee step-by-step with the Moccamaster.

1. Find the right amount of water and coffee.

Make sure your Moccamaster is clean and ready to brew. For the correct ratio between water and ground coffee, we recommend 16g of coffee powder to 0.25 liters of water. This is equivalent to approximately two cups of filter coffee. For four cups you need half a liter of water and approx. 32g of ground coffee. Fill your Moccamaster water container with one liter of water to brew eight delicious cups of filter coffee and therefore use 64g of ground coffee. When it comes to water, always make sure to use either filtered tap water or mineralized water with Third Wave Water.

2. Freshly grind the coffee beans.

For optimal extraction in the Moccamaster, we recommend a medium-coarse grind. You can find out below which coffee beans are suitable for preparation with the Moccamaster.

3. Prepare the filter and add coffee powder.

Take the plastic filter out of your Moccamaster. Now put a fresh filter paper in the filter holder. You can find out more about the right filter paper here . Now rinse the filter once with hot water to avoid an unwanted paper taste. Now fill in the appropriate amount of coffee powder. In our case this corresponds to approx. 64g of ground coffee, as we want to brew for 8 cups. Now put the filter back into the machine along with the coffee.

4. Let's go!

You start the brewing process using the start switch. Your filter coffee is ready to enjoy in just 6 minutes! The practical warming plate keeps your coffee at the optimal temperature and gives you time to drink coffee with your loved ones. After 40 minutes the Moccamaster switches off automatically.

Tip: If you want to keep your coffee warm for longer, you can pour your filter coffee into a thermos flask.

In the end, which filter coffee you prepare in your Moccamaster is up to you. Since you can hardly make any mistakes when brewing with the Moccamaster, try something crazy! We have some experimental and complex beans for you that are guaranteed to convince you.
