Coffee farmers in Bondowoso, East Java, farm state-owned land at the foot of Mount Ijen, approximately 1,100 to 1,500 meters above sea level. In recent years, with the help of the Research Center for Coffee and Cocoa (Puslit Koka) and the local government, the farmers in this area have been able to successfully increase their yield and the quality of their coffee. This success has inspired youngsters in the region to start numerous coffee-related businesses, from cafes to tourist guides. The harvest time for Jampit coffee is between June and September.
